Dickey Orphanage was able to purchase 2000m² of land just outside of Lhasa, on the road to Drepung Monastery. In June 2007 the authorities granted the building permit. The orphanage staff worked with the constructors to help minimize the costs. In the Spring of 2008 the children moved into their new home. They now have proper beds, a kitchen, a dining room, a computer room, a handicraft area (with weaving loom), a beautiful souvenir shop for the visitors and a basketball field in the courtyard.
